The muse:

As soon as I laid eyes on the orange fabric I knew it was a perfect match. It aligned with the trending color palette of the present seasonal color palette(Fall/Winter'23) and future with just the right amount of creative, bold, and sophisticated balance. To me, I very much immediately saw "Catching Fire's: Tia from District 1". I might not have survived on the battlegrounds but my look would have killed the judges for SURE, especially the reflectiveness of the glitter off the "hood", magic.

The cliche saying, "you can do whatever you put your mind to" finally registered and took effect for me, which was like winning a race all in itself. I chose to show up, to be present + the results were so physical, I can literally hang my rewards in my closet. I want to want to pivot and become the next big designer, but all I can do instead is give them their flowers. These were tough courses, Intro to Sewing 1 & 2, and even now I'm aware of the edits I would want to make given the extra time and supplies (reallllly think lining/boning would have given the bow some comforting volume and definition). Nonetheless, I'm okay with the top not being runway ready. I'm just proud I took the time creating an idea I actually loved and continued to build off that. I've learned more than a few takeaways from this class that I'm excited to utilize and make work for me down the line. For right now, I just wanna show off the fitties!!

Look 1: Bohemian Princess Spice. Serving pumpkin spice auntie! Cotton sarong? Yawn. This sheer wrap is voluminous enough to pass the tacky test, and provides a humble statement of whimsy, seasonal palette trends and personal creativity in conjunction with the top. It's light and airated making it useful in the warmer months as well..

Look 2: Business Boho on the Go. This Boho babe has a b-day party after her 9-5 at her creative job. She drips big sis vibes, a girl with a stylish head on her shoulders.

My idea was to have a magical translucent reflective "hooded" type wrap which is versatile to be able to be dressed up with slacks or down with jeans as well as provided an option to accessorize as 1 of 2 head wrap types.

Look 3: For the modern daring artsy girl next door. Doesn't strive for attention but gets it anyway because the personality is out there easy to be seen, layered with the cool girl effect of the wider pant. Effortless, while still accentuating curves, and having a comfier relaxed leg vs what would come of the everyday jegging.

I'm 5'2 and can vouch for us petites. I've also seen looks from the skinny skater girl tomboys and dreamy plus size girlies too, so it's height and curvy friendly. I swapped my cotton polyester pants that I made for denim high waisted baggy wide leg pants I got at American Eagle and caramel boots I thrifted a few years back.

From drawing visuals to creating the physical! Here are the final looks made.

With the remaining sheer fabric, I was able to make two really grand, bigger statement making accessories.
