Lately I've come to the conclusion I was just a few years shy of living out the most comfy and girl power-esque trends to date (in my world). 90's core and athleisure blending. It's a healthy blend of flirty, sporty and cozy, has the versatility to be dressed up or down without necessarily kicking the heels on (not that it's out of the question), and has this effortless preppy put together ease that sells me every time. There's nothing fashion-wise I hate more than having to consistently adjust my skirt/top/leggings while out and about, and I know I'm not the only one. These are all out-and-about proof!

Look 1

Rugby Shirt + Plaid Skirt w/ and w/o Leggings ( add the 90's aesthetic primary colored ones like green, blue, yellow or red for the detail chasers)

Think: Cher + Dionne from Clueless, or Hilary Banks from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

Styling Options:

-Leave in or out of skirt

-Wear over skirt (has cute peekaboo effect during random moments of motion

-Wear as dress with fishnets, tights or bare legged

-All look cute with boots or the everyday casual sneaker

Look 2

Shirt + Baggy Wide Legged Jean + Sporty Shoe

Great proper sporty on the go vibe, and the shirt's unisex! It gives the same vibe for our dudes, with a sports cap making the perfect cherry on top of an accessory

Look 3

Fuzzy Lowered V Neck Cross Wrap Crop Top + Jeans + Sneaker or Heel

Look 4

Fuzzy Button Down Cropped Cardigan w/ Tank or Bralette + Jeans + Chunky Boot

Onto Athleisure!

Athleisure took off like I knew it would, and yes, I know it's been around for a while but, not everyone were early adapters or very understanding to the idea. Back in early 2020 I worked in a Women's Athletic wear department, but wasn't allowed to wear company based or non leggings with my blazers, anything athletic for that matter. My manager insisted it read lazy, but then would turn around and expect us to build full sets and sell them to the same people who probably thought like her, and would likely rather spend money on a Prada bag further down the store than a set they would only be okay with at home or at the gym. That's only a small fraction of time to wear such things, with way more ways one could make use of them. Whole time I knew in my mind people would feel so free and cozy in something like this

After COVID, it's no wonder people weren't rushing to our racks, one needed to focus on getting reacquainted back into the world.

For me, prioritizing comfort while still looking cute + put together led me to this trend. It's become super easy to mix & match between leggings, skorts, sets, etc, it just takes little additions and subtractions here and there! Definitely a W of the trend: any shoe will do, from a sneaker to a nice thigh boot.

Look 1

Dress Skort + Cropped Jacket + Shoe of Choice

Leggings Optional

Look 2

Blazer + Tank Top + Leggings + Shoe of Choice

There we have it, 6 ways to live your best 90's main character/ athleisure queen life!

If you peeped it, you can even mix n match between the two niches. I see the 90s vibe in the skort dress fit, and a black athletic top for example, tucked in the wide legged pants with a chunky boot, belt, red lip and jewelry would add a whole new fresh 90s look to our lil' collection. Something like this, dressed up or down to ones liking:
