What I Learned in 2018

1. Gratitude.

Gratitude is THE attitude. It can brighten dark days and fizzle out arguments, negative thoughts and actions. In all honesty, I spent a good amount of my 2018 in a pessimistic state. It was easy for me to bum myself out with overthinking and lose motivation. My dad told me one morning on a phone call to "put it in perspective." That changed a lot for me. Others are starving and without clothes or water. I am fortunate enough to eat food everyday and have the luxury of falling in love with what I wear everyday. That's not to take away from my hardships, because we all have bad days, but just grounding myself and thinking about what I have instead of what I don't, never fails to put me in a better mood.

2. It's okay to cry

I don't see why it's still a thing, but my friends always shut down their tears and emotions. I used to do so too but since have realized that crying is okay. In fact it's more than okay, it's your body and emotions showing you care. It's natural, it happens, and it's even known to be a stress reliever.

3. Patience

You know what they say, patience is key! I'm the kind of person who has a million things going on in their mind at once and feels like I have to take care of them all before being content. For mindsets like this breathing, and writing down thoughts help. But also, patience. Know that what needs to get done will get done in due time. Stressing and putting pressure on things to work out just ends up putting a strain on yourself, and who would want that?

4. Do What Puts You At Peace

Exercise is one of the many antidotes for stress, but when I'm looking for a deeper connection, something more spiritual, I turn to meditation and yoga. Meditiation is good for the mind, body, heart and soul, and yoga is a full body stretch and workout improving flexibility and stability.
